INVESTMENT
Kathleen Taylor is promoted to head of global marketing at Barclays Global Investors in Toronto.
Previously, she was managing director, business development.
David Dunlop, senior vice-president of global custody services at Royal Trust in Toronto is moving to a new
role at the organization. Dunlop will represent Royal Trust and Royal Bank on major external industry
projects and continue his involvement in relationship management and sales activities with key clients and
prospects. Replacing Dunlop is José Placido, who is currently vice-president, client service delivery
and relationship management.
David Mather joins Primus Capital Advisors in Toronto as managing director, institutional marketing and
sales. He comes from Fidelity Investments in Toronto, where he was a managing director in the group pension
area.
The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) in Calgary announces three appointments. Glenda Campbell is
promoted to vice-chair. Previously, she was director, legal services and policy development. Patricia
Johnson is appointed to director of legal services and policy development. Previously, Johnson was the
vice-president and general counsel at the Alberta Stock Exchange in Calgary. Gary Cornfield is appointed to
director of enforcement. Prior to joining the ASC, Cornfield was a crown prosecutor for Alberta Justice and
Justice Canada.
RBC Dominion Securities Corporation in New York hires Max Holmes, Peter Parent and Gary Katcher to lead its
new high yield bond group. Holmes joins as managing director, head of origination and capital markets. He
comes from Gleacher & Co. LLC in New York, where he was head of high yield capital markets. Parent
joins as managing director, head of sales. He comes from Gleacher & Co. LLC, where he was head of high
yield sales. Katcher joins as managing director, head of trading. He comes from Bear Stearns & Co.
Inc., where he was a senior managing director and the senior high yield trader.
PENSIONS
At Barclays GIobal Investors (BGI) in Toronto, Margaret Franklin is promoted to manager, relationship
development, defined benefit plans. Previously, she was a client relationship officer. Also at BGI,
Geraldine James is promoted to manager, relationship development, defined contribution plans. Previously,
James was a client relationship officer.
At Towers Perrin in Toronto, Marilyn Lurz joins as a consultant in the retirement practice. She comes from
the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System in Toronto, where she was vice-president of pension
policy and communications.
BENEFITS
Manulife Financial makes several announcements. In Toronto, Linda Burdon is promoted to assistant
vice-president, professional development. Previously, she was sales manager at the Toronto office. Also in
Toronto, Diana Bavington is promoted to group sales manager in the Victoria Park regional group office. She
comes from the Winnipeg regional group office, where she was regional group office manager. At the Winnipeg
regional group office, Richard Dillabough is promoted to group sales manager. Previously, he was group
representative. Ray O'Quinn, regional group manager, will now be responsible for the Winnipeg regional
office in addition to his responsibility for the Calgary and Edmonton regional offices. David O'Connor
joins Manulife Financial in Montreal as regional group manager. He comes from Imperial Life/Desjardins in
Montreal, where he was vice-president, sales strategies and assistant to the senior group vice-president.
CORRECTION
The November 1999 People section ran an incorrect photo of Paul Newby. Newby is vice-president, fixed
income at the Ontario Electricity Pension Services Corporation in Toronto.
