Paul Derksen joins Sun Life of Canada in Toronto as executive vice-president and chief financial officer.
He comes from Canada Trust in Toronto, where he was executive vice-president and chief financial officer.
Also at Sun Life, Michael Hasley, senior vice-president of finance, announces his retirement.
Pat Johnston joins Buck Consultants Limited in Calgary as a senior consulting actuary. He comes from
Robertson Eadie Johnston & Associates in Oakville, Ont. where he was a partner.
Towers Perrin announces two appointments. In Calgary, Bonnie Pascall is promoted to practice leader in the
change management, communications and measurement practice from senior consultant in the change management,
communications and measurement practice. In Toronto, David Oakden joins Tillinghast-Towers Perrin as
practice leader for the property and casualty consulting practice. He comes from Zurich Canada in Toronto
where he was senior vice-president and chief property and casualty actuary.
Patrick Culhane joins The Canadian Payroll Association in Toronto as president. He comes from Carswell
Thomson Publishing Group, where he served as director of the company's finance and accounting strategic
marketing group.
INVESTMENT
Laketon Investment Management in Toronto announces two appointments. Jock Fleming is promoted to president
and chief operating officer. Previously, he was chief operating officer. Jennifer Rushton joins Laketon as
portfolio manager, Canadian equities. She comes from Canagex in Toronto, where she was involved in Canadian
equity research and portfolio management.
Co-operators Investment Counselling Limited in Guelph, Ont. announces the retirement of Brian Coleman,
vice-president, fixed income general insurance. Ian McKinnon joins Co-operators as senior portfolio
manager, fixed income. He comes from Alphaquest Capital Management in Toronto where he was vice-president,
fixed income.
Barry Cooper is the new chief executive officer at Jones Heward Investment Management Inc. in Toronto.
Previously, he was executive vice-president in charge of institutional equities at Nesbitt Burns.
Paul Hedges is promoted to director, risk and control, global custody at Royal Trust Global Securities
Services (GSS) in London, U.K. His new responsibilities include strengthening the risk and control
framework for the global custody operation. Previously, he was director of GSS's worldwide agent network.
David Hardman will replace Hedges as lead member of the worldwide agent network team.
Chris Page joins @rgentum Management & Research Corporation in Montreal as a member of the portfolio
management team. He comes from Callender Page, a specialty money management firm, where he was president
and chief executive officer.
