INVESTMENT
David Linds is promoted to vice-president and managing director of sales and marketing at CIBC Mellon
Global Securities Services Company in Toronto. Previously, he was director of business development. In his
new position, Linds will manage the business development and marketing activities for both CIBC Mellon
Global Securities Services Company and CIBC Mellon Trust Company. He replaces Doug Wannamaker, who has
retired.
Janine Guenther joins TAL Institutional Management in Vancouver as vice-president, U.S. equities. She comes
from Great-West Life in Winnipeg, Man., where she was co-manager, U.S. equities. In her new role, Guenther
will focus on the management of U.S. equities for institutional client portfolios.
Eric Melis joins the Canadian growth team at Hansberger Global Investors in Burlington, Ont. as
vice-president, portfolio management and research. He comes from McLean Budden, where he was vice-president
and international equity portfolio manager.
Kevin Klassen joins Guardian Mutual Funds in Toronto as vice-president, portfolio manager for Canadian
equities. He comes from BPI Mutual Funds in Toronto, where he was a senior vice-president. Also at
Guardian, Gavin Graham joins as vice- president, director of investments. He comes from CVO Greater China
in San Francisco, Calif., where he was limited partner and principal.
David Graham joins Merrill Lynch Investment Management Canada in Toronto as a senior equity analyst. He
comes from Thomson Kernaghan in Toronto, where he was a senior investment analyst. Also at Merrill Lynch,
Ron Valliere joins as a senior equity trader. He comes from Scotia Cassels Investment Counsel in Toronto,
where he traded Canadian and international equities. Sandy Reinhardt and Gordon Kelly join the
institutional equity sales and trading team. Previously, Reinhardt was with Scotia Capital and Kelly was at
CIBC World Markets.
BENEFITS
Barbara Backland joins William M. Mercer Limited's communications practice in Ottawa. Previously, Backland
was a benefit communications specialist with Really Useful Communications in Ottawa.
Tony Wohlfarth joins the Canada Employment Insurance Commission in Ottawa as the commissioner for workers.
He comes from the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW-Canada) in North York, Ont., where he was a national
representative in the pension and benefits department.
In Toronto, Cathryn Klassen joins Aon Consulting's human resource strategies and change management
consulting group as senior consultant. She comes from Towers Perrin in Toronto, where she was senior
consultant.
Jacqueline Taggart is promoted to marketing director, integrated services, group benefits and group
retirement services at Sun Life Assurance Company in Toronto. Most recently, she held the position of group
marketing director, group division.
Bruce Evans joins the FAS Group of Companies in Edmonton as president and chief executive officer. He comes
from The Segal Company, Ltd. in Edmonton where he was vice-president. The FAS Group of Companies, including
Funds Administrative Service Inc. and FAS Benefit Administrators Ltd., is an administrator of health,
welfare and pension plans.
PENSION
Randy Colwell joins Sun Life Group Retirement Services in Calgary as regional vice-president, Western
Canada. He comes from Clarica in Waterloo, Ont., where he was vice-president, pension sales and marketing.
Fidelity Group Pensions, Canada in Toronto announces several promotions.Stuart Graham is promoted to
managing director. Graham will be responsible for Fidelity's defined contribution business in Canada.
Patricia Colley is promoted to director, marketing and product. Previously, she led the relationship
management team. John Nolan is promoted to director, client management and plan administration. Previously,
he was a client manager. Erika Rosekat is promoted to director, employer service centre, from director of
operations.
