Investment
Trish Reid joins State Street Trust Company Canada in Toronto as vice-president of sales. She comes from
Trimark Investment Management Inc. in Toronto, where she worked in the sales alliances and institutional
services department. Robert Carnegie joins as assistant vice-president, sales. He joins from a U.S.-based
company and previously worked at Canada Trust in an institutional sales role.
The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) in Ottawa announces several changes.
Julie Dickson is promoted to assistant superintendent, regulation sector. Previously, she was special
advisor, regulation sector. Michael Hafeman joins OSFI as assistant superintendent, specialist support
sector. He comes from Morneau Sobeco, where he was a senior partner. Jean-Claude Ménard joins as chief
actuary. He comes from the Quebec Pension Board in Sainte-Foy, Que. where he was chief actuary and director
of valuation. Also at OSFI, John Thompson has retired. He was deputy superintendent, regulation and acting
assistant superintendent, specialist support sector.
Mark Sack joins Bonham & Co. in Toronto as president. He comes from the Joseph L. Rotman School of
Management at the University of Toronto, where he was executive director of development. In his new role,
Sack will lead Bonham & Co.'s global business development initiatives and institutional investment
management operations.
YMG Capital Management in Montreal announces the departure of Suzanne Coté. Coté was
vice-president, marketing and servicing for Quebec and the Maritimes. Eric Innes, chairman and chief
investment officer, and John Ellis, vice-president, institutional marketing, assume her duties until a
replacement is found.
Mark Pignatelli joins Schroder Investment Management in Toronto as head of European equities. He comes from
Baring Asset Management in Toronto.
Vito Maida, formerly with Trimark Investment Management Inc., has opened a new firm, Patient Capital
Management Inc.
Nick Mancini joins Trimark Investment Management Inc. in Toronto as executive vice-president, sales and
marketing. He comes from Canada Trust in Toronto, where he was executive vice-president.
Gryphon Investment Counsel Inc. announces the departure of Paul Campbell. Campbell returns to his former
employer, Nesbitt Burns, as deputy director of research.
Arrowstreet Capital in Boston, Mass. announces four additions to its investment team. John Capeci joins
from PanAgora Asset Management in Boston, where he was director of research. Ezra Levine also joins from
PanAgora, where he was manager, international equities. Jim Thames joins from The Frank Russell Company in
Tacoma, Wash., where he was a senior quantitative analyst. Marta Campillo, who is finishing her Ph.D. at
Boston University, also joins the investment team.
Perry Vieth joins PanAgora Asset Management in Boston, Mass. as director of fixed income. He comes from
Fleet Investment Advisors in Boston where he was a senior vice-president of the fixed income group. Also at
PanAgora, Brian Brucejoins as director of global investments. He comes from Dana Investment Advisors in
Dallas, Tex. where he was a principal and equity portfolio manager.
Pensions
Canada Trust announces the promotion of Joan Johannson to director, product management and marketing, group
retirement and investment services. Johannson has held senior management positions at Canada Trust, Midland
Walwyn and Bank of Nova Scotia.
Neil Craig has left Manulife Financial, where he was regional manager, pensions for Ontario, to found Craig
Consulting Group, where he is a principal. Based in Aurora, Ont., the new firm specializes in multi-manager
investment communications for defined contribution plans.
Gerri Shymko joins Buck Consultants in Calgary as a pension consultant. Previously, she worked for William
M. Mercer Limited in Calgary.
Robert Gagné is promoted to sales manager, corporate accounts in the Montreal regional group office of
Manulife. Previously, he was account manager, corporate accounts.
Correction
Eric Melis joins the global growth team of Hansberger Global Investors in Burlington, Ont. as
vice-president.
