Investment

John Doran joins the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada (OSFI) in Ottawa as assistant superintendent, supervision sector. Previously, Doran was executive vice-president and chief financial officer at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Also at OSFI, Nicholas Le Pan is promoted to deputy superintendent of financial institutions. Previously, he was assistant superintendent, supervision sector.

Diane Haflidson joins the U.S. equity management team of Beutel Goodman & Company Ltd. in Toronto as vice-president. She comes from Indago Capital Management. The firm also announces the closing of its Houston, Tex.-based sister company, Beutel Goodman Capital Management.

Mario Delisle is promoted to consultant in the asset management/investment consulting practice at Aon Consulting in Montreal. Previously, he was an analyst. At Aon Consulting in Vancouver, Damon Williams is promoted to vice-president in the investment consulting practice. Previously, he was a senior consultant.

Stephen Sibold is the new chairman and chief executive of the Alberta Securities Commission in Calgary. He comes from Canadian Airlines, where he was senior vice-president and general counsel. Sibold replaces William Hess, who left last year to become head of the new Canadian Venture Exchange.

Amitabh Dugar joins PanAgora Asset Management in Boston, Mass. as global investment manager. He comes from Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo & Company in Boston, where he was a quantitative analyst. Also at PanAgora, Deborah Parry joins the firm as senior sales manager. Previously, she was senior vice-president, sales and client services at Baring Asset Management in Boston.

Robert Bertram is promoted to executive vice-president, investments, at the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan in Toronto. Previously, he was senior vice-president, investments. Also at Ontario Teachers', Allan Reesor is promoted to executive vice-president, member services and chief information officer. Previously, he was senior vice-president, client and information services and chief information officer.

Chris Tomev joins Avalon Actuarial Consulting Inc. in Toronto as vice-president. He previously worked at Aon Consulting, where he was a senior consultant.

Aon Consulting announces several promotions in its retirement strategies practice. In Vancouver, Pavol Gvodzdjak is promoted to consultant from analyst. Also in Vancouver, Brendan George is promoted to senior consultant from consultant. In Winnipeg, Patti Malbasa is promoted to consultant. Previously, she was an analyst. Also in Winnipeg, Joanne Richard is promoted to consultant from analyst. In Edmonton, Bob Thiessen is promoted to vice-president from senior consultant. In Montreal, Jean-François Gariépy is promoted to vice-president from senior consultant. Also in Montreal, Pierre Guérin and Réjean Tremblay are promoted to senior consultants from consultants. Claudine Gauthier, Dominique Boucher, Izabelle Lauzière, Gilles Marois and Pascal Barrière are promoted to consultants from analysts in Montreal.

Robert Harrison joins Trimark Investment Management Inc. in Toronto as regional vice-president, institutional sales. He comes from Hewitt Associates.

James Gagnon joins ESI Canada in Mississauga, Ont. as director of sales. He comes from the Canadian Dental Association, where he was director, practice management. In his new role, Gagnon will focus on the development of new business for ESI Canada.

Michael Barrow joins Krieger & Associates in Toronto as benefits analyst. He has worked in the group benefits and consulting industry for six years.

Aon Consulting announces several promotions in its health and benefits practice. In Winnipeg, Jo-Ann Day is promoted to consultant from analyst. In Toronto, Lesley Bridger is promoted to consultant from analyst. Also in Toronto, Drew Sousa is promoted to senior consultant from consultant. Brian Brown is promoted to vice-president from senior consultant in the Toronto office. In Calgary, Joan Holihan is promoted to vice-president from senior consultant. In Vancouver, Linda Clay is promoted to senior consultant from consultant. In Montreal, Marthe Coultier is promoted to senior consultant from consultant. Also in Montreal, Julie Joyal and Christophe Gaboriaud are promoted to consultants from analysts.

At Aon Consulting's compensation strategies practice in Toronto, Colleen McCue is promoted to consultant from analyst. Also in Toronto, Susan Hunter is promoted to senior consultant from consultant in the compensation strategies practice.
