Investment

Jane Murray joins Glenmede Trust Companyin Philadelphia, Pa. as vice-president and manager of institutional sales. She comes from Centerfire Capital Management in Montreal, where she was vice-president.

Pierre Brodeurjoins ElantisInvestment Management Inc.(formerly Canagex) in Montreal as vice-president, quantitative research. He comes from Barra International Canada, where he was president. Also at Elantis,Pierre Payeurjoins as vice-president, client services. He comes from Fiducie Desjardins, where he was vice-president, investment.

Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada's new real estate subsidiary, Sun Life Financial Realty Advisors Inc., announces three appointments. Philip Gillin is appointed president. He has been Sun Life's vice-president and general manager of real estate since 1998. Peter Andrews is appointed vice-president, business development. In his new role, Andrews oversees the client development and asset management business of Sun Life Financial Realty Advisors Inc. Wayne Walton is appointed vice-president, acquisitions. He has held the position of director, real estate investments with Sun Life since 1993.

Oliver Murray joins Mackenzie Financial Services Inc.as executive vice-president and chief operating officer. He comes from Trimark Investments in Toronto, where he was executive vice-president and chief operating officer. In his new role, Murray oversees administration, client service, processing and various project departments.

Michael Ptasznik is promoted to vice-president, finance and administration and treasurer at the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE). Most recently, he was director, finance and administration with the TSE. In his new role, Ptasznik is responsible for treasury, corporate accounting, financial planning, tax risk management and administration.

Northern Trust Global Investments in Chicago announces three appointments. Scott Jones joins as product manager for fixed income capabilities, including short duration, long duration, high yield and municipals. He comes from John Nuveen & Co. Inc. where he was director of strategic initiatives. Robert Morgan joins the firm as director of private equity. He comes from Frye-Louis Capital Advisors, LLC in Chicago, where he was director. Lori Runquist joins in the newly created position of hedge fund product manager. She previously worked at Hedge Fund Research, LLC as managing director of the hedge fund management team.

Benefits

Jacqueline Taggartjoins Morneau Sobeco in Toronto as a principal in the communications practice. She comes from Sun Life Financial, where she was director, integrated services.

Denise Balch leaves consulting firm MHCG in Burlington, Ont. to start her own company, CONNEX health consulting. In her new role, Balch continues her work in the Hamilton, Ont. area to develop health partnership programs that meet the needs of pharmaceutical companies and private payers, including employer groups.

Standard Life announces two appointments. David Coulter joins the group insurance sales office in Toronto as regional manager. Jean-Pierre Charbonneau joins the group insurance sales office in Montreal as regional manager. In their new roles, Coulter and Charbonneau are responsible for developing new business, retaining existing business in their respective territories, staff management, developing sales targets and marketing and implementing distribution strategies.

Eric Girard is appointed vice-president, claims, group insurance at Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada. Previously, he was assistant vice-president, group claims. Girard is responsible for all group plan member services across Canada, including health and dental claims, life and disability claims and group call centres.

Anita Fineberg joins IMS Health Canada as corporate counsel and chief privacy officer. Previously, she acted as counsel to the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. In her new role, Fineberg oversees legal affairs for the company, as well as the development of corporate policies to address the process of legislative and public policy in the areas of health information and electronic commerce. Also at IMS Health, John McCarthy joins as vice-president, finance and administration and chief financial officer. He comes from Bombardier Aerospace, where he was director of North American and international market development for the company's business aircraft division.

Dr. Steve Semelman is promoted from director of health managment services to vice-president, health management services at ESI Canada. Semelman is also president of ESRx Essential Research.

Lloyd King is elected chair of the board of governors of The Insurance Institute of Canada. He is executive vice-president of Anthony Insurance Inc. in Halifax.

Pension

Shameem Rashid joins Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in Toronto as an associate lawyer in the pension and benefits group. She comes from William M. Mercer Limited.

Jennie Kuo joins the retirement practice of Aon Consulting Inc. in Toronto as senior consultant. She comes from William M. Mercer Limited, where she was a consulting actuary.

Enzo De Luca joins William M. Mercer Limited in Vancouver as a principal in the retirement practice. He comes from Western Compensation & Benefits in Vancouver.

Evan Howard joins the pension and benefits practice group of Stikeman Elliot in Toronto. He comes from Freshfields in London, England. Also at Stikeman Elliot, Michel Legendre joins the pension and benefits practice group in Montreal. Previously, he worked at Desjardins Ducharme Stein Monast in Montreal.

Adam Neal is promoted to director, national sales at Fidelity Group Pensions in Toronto. Formerly, he was director of business development.
