Investments

Paul Easterbrook is the new head of Shroder Investment Management North America's Canadian operation. He is based in Toronto.

Michael Dobson has been appointed chief executive of London-based Schroders. He was previously head of Deutsche Asset Management and is currently chairman and chief executive of Beaumont Capital Management Ltd.

Giles Marshall has joined Laketon Investment Management as vice-president of marketing and business development.

Deutsche Asset Management in New York announced that it has appointed Steven Bossi, Mustafa Jama, John Gallagher and Lance Babbit to directors in the fund of funds team.

Talvest Fund Management has appointed Virginia Wai-Ping as the lead manager of Talvest Cdn. Equity Leaders Fund. Wai-Ping will also act as co-manager of Talvest Cdn. Multi Management Fund.

The Toronto Stock Exchange Inc. has appointed Richard Nesbitt as president, TSE Market Services Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary that includes both the trading and market data businesses.

Upland Investment Management Ltd. in Sudbury, Ont. has appointed George Blake, chairman; Robin Randall, president; and Charles Boldt, executive vice-president.

Robert Cultraro has joined Aon Consulting's pension investment advisory services area as senior consultant in Toronto.

Pensions

Sherallyn Miller, B.C.'s superintendent of pensions, is the new chairwoman of the Joint Forum of Financial Market Regulators. Miller takes over from Dina Palozzi, the former head of the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.

Gail Armitage, superintendent of pensions at Alberta Finance, Employment Pensions, is the new chairperson of the Canadian Association of Pension Supervisory Authorities. She replaces Sherallyn Miller.

Jim Leech has been appointed senior vice-president, merchant banking at the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board.

Jean Lagacé and Trish Roberts were appointed to CIBC Mellon's relationship management team. Lagacé is director, relationship management and is based in Montreal. Roberts is relationship manager for the Toronto pension group.

Katherine Catton has been appointed vice-president and general counsel of the Hospitals of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP). Catton was previously a senior legal adviser at the Financial Services Commission. Also at HOOPP, Lina Lawrence is the new senior vice-president, central services. Lawrence was formerly at Bell Mobility where she was vice-president, information technology and chief information officer.

Benefits

John Moreland has joined Whitby, Ont.-based Buffett Taylor & Associates Ltd. as a senior consultant in the benefits division.

Stephen Bornstein is the new president of the Institute for Work & Health in Toronto. He replaces Terrence Sullivan.

Nicole Parsons is the new president and CEO of The Lexington Group Inc., an international employee assistance provider based in New Britain, Conn. The current president, James Ferrelli, will become the director of business development.

Art Beauchamp has joined Aon Consulting as vice-president in Toronto.

Pam Martin and Jamie Elliot have joined the group benefits practice of Baynes & White in Toronto. Martin is senior consultant and Elliot is group benefits specialist.

Buck Consultants announced three new appointments to its communications practice. Gerry Chiasson is the new practice leader and Deborah Gonsalves and Karen Black are communications consultants.

Robert Taylor is a new associate at TRG Group Benefits & Pensions Inc. in Vancouver.

Martha Milczynski is a new partner in the pension and benefits group at Toronto-based Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. She is currently the chair of the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. Also joining Blakes' pension and employee benefits group is Karen Shaver. BC
