Donald Raymond plans to leave the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) and join Alignvest Management Corp. to become chief investment officer and managing partner in April.
He’s currently senior vice-president and chief investment strategist at the CPPIB and will leave on March 31.
Raymond joined the CPPIB in 2001 and was the first employee in its public market investment department.
Before that, he was a portfolio manager in the quantitative strategies group at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York, which managed one of the world’s largest hedge funds at the time. Raymond began his investment career as a research analyst in the fixed income derivatives department of Burns Fry, a predecessor of BMO Capital Markets.
The CPPIB says a search has already begun for his successor.
Toronto-based Alignvest is an alternative investment management firm.
