Participants at this year’s Canadian Leadership Council on Drug Plan Partnerships are taking steps toward new alliances in order to pursue outside-of-the-box solutions for the design and management of private drug plans, with a focus on improved patient access.

Harmonized prior authorization forms, navigational support for plan members and expanded data exchanges are among the ideas put forward by participants, which included representatives for patients, physicians, business advisors and pharmaceutical manufacturers. The connections between coverage and health outcomes, as well as the value of higher-specialty pharmaceuticals, were also key topics of discussion.
