Benefits
There are a few new faces over at Aon Consulting. Deborah
Cameron has joined the Health and Benefits team in Toronto as
a Vice-President, Gerardo Maldonado has joined the Health
and Benefits practice in Vancouver as a Consultant, Isabelle Côté
has joined the Employee Benefits Administration unit (Outsourcing) in
Montreal as a Consultant, and Nathalie Côté has
joined the Employee Benefits Administration unit in Montreal as a Consultant.
Pensions
Aon Consulting has a few new employees. At the company's
Retirement unit in Quebec, Pierre Girardin is a Senior
Consultant, Francis-Carl
Rivard is also a Senior Consultant,
and Claude Michaud is a Consultant. At the company's
Retirement Strategies practice in Toronto, Barry Gros is
a Vice-President, John
Melinte is a Consultant,

Investments
Joseph Masri has been appointed to the position of vice-president
and head of investment risk management at the CPP Investment Board.
He will be responsible for overseeing all elements of the investment risk
function within the CPPIB, building upon the existing measurement and
control processes. Most recently, he was global head of investment risk
management with Barclays Global Investors.
Becky J. West
has been appointed to the position of director client servicing of Addenda
Capital Inc., formerly Co-operators Investment. She has more
than 20 years of client servicing and sales experience with major Canadian
investment firms, including Confederation Life, Sun Life and Russell Investments.
Beutel, Goodman &
Company has appointed of Peter D. Clarke as
senior vice-president and partner. He will take on the position in September.
Clarke has more than 30 years experience in the asset management
industry. Prior to joining Beutel Goodman, he was Managing Director of
the Canadian division of UBS Global Asset Management.
MFC Global Investment
Management has named Brian Torrisi as its managing
director and head of U.S. consultant relations. He fills
a new role and is responsible for the development, implementation and
management of MFC Global's relationships with investment consultants.
Ted Carmichael has joined the Ontario Municipal
Employees Retirement System as managing director, asset mix and
capital market research. He was previously the chief economist of JP Morgan
Chase Canada.
Mark Jenkins
has joined the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB)
as vice-president and head of private debt. Most recently, Jenkins was
managing director, co-head of leveraged finance origination and execution
for Barclays Capital in New York.
Oxford Properties Group, which is owned by OMERS, has
appointed three new people to its global asset management team. Neil
Jacob joins Oxford as senior vice-president, global asset management,
located in Boston. He previously worked at a real estate management and
consulting practice where he focused on asset management, acquisitions,
dispositions and structured financings across all asset classes and both
the public and private markets. Michael Kanuka has joined
Oxford as vice-president, global asset management, and was most recently
at Citigroup's Toronto office where his practice concentrated on global
markets in the disciplines of structured finance, investment underwriting
and relationship management. And Michel Vauclair has
joined Oxford as senior vice-president, global asset management. He previously
worked at UBS in Geneva, where his role as managing director, head of
asset management for Europe included the primary responsibility for managing
the real estate assets invested by UBS on behalf of private clients.
Watson Wyatt
has hired Chris DeMeo from Russell Investments to be
the Investment Practice leader in the Eastern United States and Quebec.
The Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan has announced the
promotions of seven executives in the investment division. The appointments
include: Stephen Dowd, senior vice-president, infrastructure;
Ron Mock, senior vice-president, alternative investments;
Jason Chang, vice-president, fixed income capital management;
Kevin Kerr, vice-president, infrastructure; and Andrew
Claerhout, Shael Dolman and Glen Silvestri
to vice-president, Teachers' Private Capital.
Benita M. Warmbold
has been appointed as Senior Vice-President and Chief Operations Officer
at the CPP Investment Board. Most recently, she spent
11 years as the Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer for Northwater
Capital Management where she was a member of the senior management team
and was responsible for operations, finance, risk management, compliance,
regulatory affairs, and treasury functions.
Baring Asset Management
has added Harjeet Heer to its fixed income
and currency team in London and is Head of the Global Aggregate business.
He previously worked at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM),
where he gained over 20 years experience, most recently as a Managing
Director and COO of the Fixed Income business.
Great-West Lifeco's
U.S. subsidiary, Putnam Investments, has named Robert
L. Reynolds as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Charles
E. Haldeman, currently President and CEO, has been named Chairman.
Both appointments are effective July 1.
Gluskin Sheff + Associates
has appointed Tim Stinson as Vice President, Risk Management.
He is also a licensed portfolio manager and a member of the firm's asset
mix committee. Prior to joining the firm, Tim was President of Knight
Bain Private Counsel, a division of KBSH Capital Management. Also at Gluskin
Sheff, Brian Ginsler has been appointed Vice President,
Corporate Development and is also a licensed portfolio manager. He was
previously Vice President of Northwood Stephens Private Counsel Inc.
HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc.
has appointed Martin Sims as Executive Vice President
and National Director. He joined the firm in 2003 and has served as head
of North American Product Delivery and HSBC InvestDirect and most recently
as Regional Director.
Other
Fasken Martineau has welcomed prominent labour and employment
lawyers Brian Smeenk and Karen Sargeant,
who join the firm as partners in the Labour, Employment and Human Rights
practice group. Brian's practice has focused on all facets of labour relations
and employment law, for both private and public sector employers. He has
extensive labour negotiations experience and has acted on numerous high-profile
cases. Karen's employment and labour law practice also covers work with
high-profile public and private employers. She brings a breadth of expertise
in areas including employment contracts, wrongful dismissal, human rights,
employment standards, workplace safety and insurance, union relations,
labour arbitrations and pay equity.
Jennifer Zigomanis has joined Aon Consulting's
Communications practice as a Consultant in Toronto.
Hewitt Associates
has announced the appointments of Jeff Vathje, senior
consultant, and Michael Alvarez, consultant, to its Talent
and Organizational Consulting practice in Calgary. Jeff's career has spanned
20 years, during which time he has developed expertise in total rewards
program design, encompassing benefits, pension, payroll and compensation
programs. He has spent the last 14 years working in industry, most recently
with EnCana Corporation. Michael worked at two other human resources consulting
firms, collaborating with both international and local clients.
