Benefits
Wayne Millar is assistant vice-president, product development, group benefits, at Sun Life Financial. He is accountable for the innovation, development and execution of the group benefits business product and solutions strategy. In group retirement services, Nadia Darwish is vice-president, client relationships and business development; Kate Nazar is assistant vice-president, client relationships; and Jennifer Katzsch is regional director, client relationships. Darwish joined the firm in 1999, Nazar joined in April, and Katzsch has been at the company since 2000.

Kathy Seliga has been appointed vice-president, actuarial, with Sun Life Financial. She will be responsible for the strategic direction of the actuarial aspects of the group benefits business. Seliga has more than 15 years at the company. Also, Greg Davis is now vice-president, finance, for group benefits, which he joined in 2007. He is responsible for the accounting and financial aspects of the group benefits business.

Wanda Crawley has been promoted to the position of Account Executive, AXA Group Insurance Division, for Atlantic Region effective April 2010. Wanda has worked in AXA's Group Insurance Division for the last 9 years, most recently as a Service Representative. In her new role, Wanda will be responsible for all group business in Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.

Nathalie Monette has joined the AXA Group Insurance Division as an Account Executive in Eastern region effective April 2010. Nathalie's primary responsibility will be building our business with consultants and brokers in the province of Quebec- namely Quebec City, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke and Drummondville in addition to managing some key accounts in Montréal.



Pensions
Claude Paquette, FSA, FCIA has been appointed director, DB Administration for Buck Consultants with overall service delivery responsibility for DB administration clients. Claude has over 10 years of consulting experience with major consulting firms in the area of retirement benefits and has a particular expertise on pension administration matters.

Jeff Davis is vice-president and associate general counsel at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (Teachers’). Responsible for providing legal advice and representation in the management of the pension fund, he joined Teachers’ in 2004 and was, most recently, senior legal counsel, investments.

Rob Lewis is a senior consultant in the Toronto, office of Hewitt Associates. He is not new to the firm. His consulting career spans more than two decades, with the last 16 years spent in HR consulting, including 10 years with Hewitt in Boston.

Evan Howard has joined Ogilvy Renault as a partner in the employment and labour group at Ogilvy Renault. He has almost 15 years of experience in all aspects of pensions and benefits law. He also regularly advises on the pension and benefits aspects of domestic and international corporate transactions, mergers, financings, insolvencies, and restructurings.

Buck Consultants has appointed Robin Pond as senior investment and CAP Consultant. Pond has more than 20 years of experience in investments and governance, and is currently the chair of the Financial Services Commission of Ontario’s investment advisory committee.


Investments
Laurence Waring is vice-president, investments, at the Local Authorities Pension Plan in Alberta. He has extensive experience in the field of investment management, most recently with his own consulting firm Waring Advisory Services, Inc. Previously, he was director, investments for the Universities Academic Pension Plan and director, external fund management, for the government of Alberta's finance department. Beth Spark is vice-president, policy and research. She was formerly the human resources advisor for pensions at the city of Calgary and has done pension consulting and policy work for the Alberta Pensions Services Corporation, ATB Financial, the Universities Academic Pension Plan, and the Special Forces Pension Plan.

Evan McCordick is now a managing director of Cordiant. He will oversee investor relations and, as a member of the management committee, he will be involved in the screening of investments and the development and implementation of corporate strategy. Previously, he was a founding partner and managing director of IBIS Capital Management.  

Morrison Williams Investment Management LP has appointed Tom Czitron as managing director and chief investment officer. Czitron will be responsible for developing the firm’s overall macro strategy and will help to select suitable investments for pension, high net worth and mutual fund clients.
