First Health Care acquires Humanacare

Employee health services provider First Health Care is to acquire employee assistance program provider HumanaCare.

The acquisition enhances First Health Care’s EAP offering by combining its nursing experience with HumanCare’s experience in counselling and other employee support services, said Jamie Marcellus, president of First Health Care in a press release.

“Combined with our existing employee assistance programs, medical second opinion, disability support, caregiving/health-care navigation and chronic disease management services, HumanaCare deepens our expertise in a number of key areas,” he added.

“A single point of contact ensures the employee receives the right support which ultimately benefits the organization,” said Craig Richman, president and chief executive officer of HumanaCare.

The organizations will have offices in Eastern and Western Canada. Richman will continue to lead the EAP platform at HumanaCare, while First Health Care will transition its existing employee health programs to the HumanaCare brand.

The transaction is expected to close on Sept. 1, 2016.
