Errico Cocchi, head of pension investments, City of Montreal

Errico Cocchi

Errico Cocchi is head of pension investments at the City of Montreal. He leads the team responsible for recommending, implementing and monitoring the investments of the City’s six employee pension plans, which are valued at nearly $11 billion. In addition, Cocchi and his team execute the city’s debt issuance program, which is valued at more than $1 billion annually and is responsible for managing the organization’s surplus cash and sinking fund.

Cocchi began his career as an asset management consultant with a major Canadian actuarial consulting firm. He holds a bachelor of business administration from Bishop’s University, a master’s degree in economics from the Université de Sherbrooke and is a charted financial analyst charter holder.

During his tenure at the City of Montréal, Cocchi participated and then led the implementation of the alternatives program, which grew from eight per cent of the plan’s assets in 2005 to 25 per cent today across multiple strategies in various sectors of the asset class.
