Due to a planned retirement, Vestcor is seeking an experienced executive to join its Finance and Administration team as its next Chief Financial Officer. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the position has overall responsibility for corporate, investment pooled fund and client financial reporting, Canadian and foreign income tax and HST compliance, investment performance, banking and securities custody, internal controls, information technology and certain corporate services. The CFO is also responsible for working with the Chair of the Audit Committee to set the Committee’s agenda and oversight priorities. The CFO is a primary contact for Vestcor’s clients and is responsible for assisting the Boards of Trustees of pension fund clients with their pension plan governance responsibilities.

The ideal candidate brings experience as a senior finance executive or audit partner working in or dealing with a complex financial services or IFRS compliant organization, preferably where they have gained knowledge of statutory and regulatory matters for pension and investment funds. Armed with a CPA and a strong client service ethos, the preferred candidate will bring experience leading financial accounting, investment and pension fund management, as well as IT. Exposure to income tax principles and tax compliance will be beneficial. A strong leader who champions best practices, effective planning and timely decision-making, the preferred candidate will bring a strong focus on superior client service and collaboration.
