Raphael Lewis, head, specialist research, BNY Investments Newton

Raphael Lewis is the head of BNY Investments Newton’s specialist research efforts. He has spent more than 18 years conducting deep-dive, fundamental research for investors, the past 11 years of which in the BNY Investments family of boutiques. Prior to BNY, he spent seven years at a Boston hedge fund called North Run Capital. Before entering financial services, Raphael spent over a decade as a newspaper reporter — the last six years at the Boston Globe — where he specialized in investigative journalism. Lewis also spent two years as an investigator at the Massachusetts Office of the Inspector General, an office dedicated to rooting out waste, fraud and abuse of public funds. He obtained his bachelor of arts from the University of Toronto and his master’s of science from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
