Calvin Jordan rejoins Mercer after retiring from N.S. health employee pension plan

Calvin Jordan is joining Mercer as a partner and senior investment consultant following his recent retirement as chief executive officer of the Nova Scotia Health Employees’ Pension Plan.

Based at the Vancouver office, Jordan will work as a senior investment consultant at Mercer. He returns to the firm following a previous 12-year stint before taking the role at the Nova Scotia plan. He retired from that role on June 21.

“Calvin will add further strength to the investment segment of our wealth team in western Canada and bring a unique perspective, having gained experience on both the consulting and client side,” said Jean-Philippe Provost, senior partner and leader of Mercer’s wealth business in Canada. “We are excited to welcome Calvin back to the Mercer family.”

Replacing Jordan in the Nova Scotia role is Stefan Cowell. Cowell began his career at the Workers’ Compensation Board of Alberta before moving to the Canadian Pacific Railway’s pension plan. More recently, he has worked for several investment funds in the Middle East, including a role in Bahrain and as head of asset management for the Qatar Foundation endowment fund.
