OMERS increases stake in British utility company

The infrastructure arm of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System is making a further investment in the company that owns Britain’s largest water and wastewater services provider.

The transaction, for an additional four per cent in Kemble Water Holdings Ltd., the holding company of Thames Water Utilities Ltd., is to close later in 2018. When it closes, OMERS will have about a 32 per cent interest in Thames Water.

OMERS made its initial investment in Kemble Water as part of a consortium of other investors in March 2017. The pension fund then boosted its holdings in the company by 4.4 per cent in December 2017 .
