Ontario Teachers’ corporate governance head named to global network

The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan’s head of corporate governance has been appointed to the board of the International Corporate Governance Network.

Paul Schneider has led the corporate governance function at Ontario Teachers’ since 2010. Prior to that role, Schneider was director of research at the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance, joining the organization in 2003.

“Ontario Teachers’ has long supported the important work being done by ICGN to promote strong and consistent corporate governance standards,” he said. “I look forward to the continued close alignment of our organizations, and as a board member to helping ICGN advance, promote and protect the interests of its global membership.”

The International Corporate Governance Network is a global investor-led network with members representing assets under management in excess of $US26 trillion. Schneider’s appointment was announces at the organization’s annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

He was appointed alongside two other new board members: Ian Burger, head of corporate governance at Newton Investment Management in Britain, and Dana Hollinger, a board member at the California Public Employees’ Retirement System in the United States.
