The Co-operators enters joint venture with Medavie Blue Cross

Co-operators Life Insurance Co. has enlisted group benefits provider Medavie Blue Cross to administer its existing and future group benefits policies in Quebec.

The partnership is a logical step as the Co-operators continues to expand its presence in the province, according to a news release. It noted the company’s plan sponsors won’t experience any changes in their current policies from the joint venture.

“We are committed to growing our business in Quebec through our key distribution networks,” said Kevin Daniel, executive vice-president and chief operating officer at the Co-operators. “This venture allows us to maintain a competitive group benefits package for our Quebec-based clients, while continuing to focus on supporting the communities in which we do business.”

The partnership is a milestone for Medavie Blue Cross as it seeks to grow and work with stakeholders, said Eric Laberge, president of Medavie Blue Cross. “I look forward to working collaboratively with the Co-operators in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition for our mutual clients.”
