The Canada Infrastructure Bank has named François Lecavalier as head of project development, effective Dec. 3, 2018.

Lecavalier will head up a team responsible for advising public proponents of infrastructure projects, incubating new projects, building and maintaining a national inventory of new infrastructure projects and arranging global best practices on the development of new infrastructure.

“François adds depth and breadth to our team as he is deeply familiar with leading infrastructure and private equity projects,” said Pierre Lavallée, president and chief executive officer of the Canada Infrastructure Bank. “We will count on his expertise to advise on potential investments, incubate new projects and create a national inventory of potential infrastructure projects.”

Most recently, Lecavalier served as senior vice-president of corporate development at the Business Development Bank of Canada. Prior to that, he was vice-president of investment development at SNC-Lavalin Capital and vice-president of infrastructure and strategic development of SNC-Lavalin’s mining and metallurgy division. He has also held an assortment of roles with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, such as director for Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia.

At the beginning of his career, he worked in the federal department of finance’s international economic relations division, participating in North American Free Trade Agreement negotiations.
