The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec’s executive vice-president of Quebec, Christian Dubé, is leaving the pension fund to run for the Coalition Avenir Quebec.

The provincial political party confirmed to The Canadian Press that Dubé will run in the Montreal-area riding of La Prairie. He previously represented the Levis riding in the legislature between 2012 and 2014, before resigning to join the Caisse.

In the role of executive vice-president of Quebec since August 2014, Dubé was in charge of implementing the pension fund’s investment strategy, which aims to boost the Quebec economy by fostering the growth of businesses in the province. Overseeing the private equity portfolio in Quebec, he also advised all of the investment teams to help identify the best investment opportunities across the province. As well, he sat on the Caisse’s executive committee and its investment-risk committee.
