Goyal, who is both a mechanical engineer and a financial analyst, first joined the pension fund in 2019 as head of capital markets. In 2020, he wrote an article on LinkedIn praising the organization’s culture. “All those stories we hear about Canadians being considerate, polite and positive they are all true,” he wrote in the post. “The culture at OMERS combines the best of the professionalism and competitiveness of the U.S. with the collaborative, team-oriented [and] respectful workplace style of continental Europe.”

Earlier in his career, Goyal was head of emerging market equities and an investment director and chief investment officer for Eastspring Investments, as well as a portfolio manager at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Co. Ltd.
