The Empire Life Insurance Co. is appointing Michael Perry as senior vice-president of  group solutions.

In 2016, Perry joined Empire Life as vice-president of group product and marketing. Previously, he was vice-president at Collins Barrow Toronto LLP and a consultant at Ontario-based insurance company FCT.

Perry also spent almost 13 years in various senior positions at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, most recently as vice-president of business effectiveness and support, mortgages lending, insurance and deposits. Before that he spent six year as a director at Scotiabank.

“Michael . . . [has] been successful at finding efficiencies in our processes and developing relationships and strategic partnerships to drive business outcomes,” said Mark Sylvia, president and chief executive officer, in a press release. “Under [his] leadership, we will continue to provide industry leading digital sales and service platforms and products that advisors are proud to recommend and consumers are confident to buy.”

In other appointment news, Canada Life is naming Jeff Marshall senior vice-president and chief digital officer.

In the new role, effective May 13, Marshall will lead the development and execution of Canada Life’s digital strategy.

“Our company is undergoing a digital transformation. That’s why we’re excited to have Jeff join our team as we take the next step in our digital journey,” said Fabrice Morin, executive vice-president of Canadian operations at Canada Life, in a press release. “In this role, he will help strengthen our focus on digital initiatives as we work to amplify our digital capabilities. His experience across a variety of business disciplines, including marketing, consumer strategy and product management, position him well to lead our digital centre of excellence.”

Previous to joining Canada Life, Marshall was chief product and marketing officer at the Street Capital Bank of Canada and was senior vice-president, digital banking and head of Scotiabank’s Digital Factory.
