Taking away the tax deduction for employers or making the benefit taxable to employees would likely take away a significant incentive for employers to offer these plans – likely at the expense of the heavy users that can least afford to go without. I would like to say our government isn’t dumb enough to make this mistake but….

In the meantime, commission disclosure is nice in theory but ineffective in practice unless ALL participants in the financial services industry (insurers, investment managers, banks, etc) all agree upon full disclosure on ALL products.
