OPTrust achieves 10.1% return in 2012

The OPSEU Pension Trust (OPTrust) reported a 10.1% return in 2012 due to double-digit returns in its infrastructure, real estate and private equity portfolios.

The plan’s net assets rose to $14.7 billion at the end of the year after paying more than $745 million in pension benefits in 2012.

The infrastructure portfolio led performance in 2012, with a return of 23.7%. The plan’s other alternative asset classes, private equity and real estate, returned 20.5% and 17.9%, respectively.
