Patrick Shea, partner, co-head, national private equity group, McCarthy Tétrault

Patrick M. Shea is a partner in the Montreal office of McCarthy Tétrault and co-head of the firm’s national private equity group. He advises Canadian pension funds, other institutional investors, private equity firms and public and private companies on complex cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity and strategic investment transactions.

A Chambers-ranked lawyer in both private equity and M&A, Shea is recognized for his depth of experience in sophisticated, high-value transactions and his ability to navigate regulatory, commercial and market considerations in global investments. He frequently acts as relationship partner to major institutional clients of the firm.

Shea holds degrees from Princeton University and McGill University’s Faculty of Law and is admitted to the New York Bar and the Bar of Quebec. He’s fluent in English and French and began his legal career at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York, bringing a distinct cross-border perspective to North American and international markets.
