Frédéric Gauvin, president, chief investment officer, University of Sherbrooke pension plan

Frédéric Gauvin has more than 20 years of management experience in the financial sector, notably in portfolio management, risk management, treasury, investment and derivatives valuation. He’s currently president and chief investment officer of the University of Sherbrooke pension plan and a financial risk management consultant, collaborating on multiple asset management projects. He has also held positions at the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corp., EY, Société Générale Group and State Street Global Advisors, now rebranded as State Street Investment Management. In addition, Gauvin is a member of the investment committees of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary and chair of the investment committee of the Insurance Fund of the Architects of Quebec, overseeing global assets worth more than $3 billion.
A CFA charter holder, Gauvin has a master’s degree in finance from the University of Sherbrooke. His skills and experience in risk management align well with best practices for pension plan governance.
