James Chan, chair, board of directors, Inspirit Foundation

James Chan is the co-executive and director at Impact United Academy and an associate director at Social Venture Connexion , helping to grow the social finance marketplace and mobilize all forms of capital for social, environmental and community impact. His multidisciplinary background includes managing a community finance fund, starting up experiential learning and civic engagement initiatives and building community and partnerships at innovation and entrepreneurship hubs.

Chan is a member of Tapestry Community Capital’s governance committee, after serving on the board of directors and was also a past member of Philanthropic Foundations Canada’s policy committee and London Community Foundation’s social finance committee. He’s an alumnus of the Action Canada public policy fellowship and the governor general’s Canadian leadership conference.
