Mo Mirza, director, strategic technology, platform engineering, AI and advanced analytics, OMERS

Mo Mirza is the director of strategic technology under platform engineering, artificial intelligence and advanced analytics at the Ontario Municipal Employees’ Retirement System. Previously director of platform engineering, he focused on building and managing several technology platforms enabling investment and enterprise organizational units. He has two decades of experience deploying data and integration technology across a myriad industries in public and private sectors.

Prior to joining the OMERS in 2021, Mirza spent more than four years at Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, where he delivered data solutions critical to employers, workers and health service providers. He has also worked in the banking, telecom and retail sectors, most recently at the Bank of Montreal, building core data services and platforms that connect consumer and commercial lines of business. Before entering the industry, Mirza was a researcher pursuing a PhD in systems design engineering at the University of Waterloo, which he left midway to join a start-up. Mirza holds a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Texas at Dallas.
