Andy Moniz, senior vice-president, director of responsible investing, Acadian Asset Management

Andy Moniz joined Acadian Asset Management in 2021 as the director of responsible investing. He leads Acadian’s global environmental, social and governance efforts and oversees the firm’s ESG strategies, related research initiatives and active ownership tactics, in addition to serving as the chair for Acadian’s responsible investing committee. Moniz is based out of Acadian Asset Management (U.K.) Limited and prior to joining, he worked as the director of applied data science at Putnam Investments. Previous to that, he was managing director and chief data scientist at Deutsche Bank and a quantitative ESG portfolio manager at APG Asset Management. He holds a PhD in natural language processing from Erasmus University, specializing in the creation of alternative ESG signals; a MSc in applied statistics from the University of London; and a BA and MA in economics from the University of Cambridge. Moniz is a CFA charterholder and acts as a referee for ESG papers submitted to the Financial Analysts Journal. He is also an advisor to the Bank of England on the use of artificial intelligence and alternative data.
