Neil Constable, head of quantitative research and investments, Fidelity Investments

Neil Constable is head of quantitative research and investments (QRI) in the asset management division. In this role, he is responsible for leading the QRI team within asset management.

Prior to joining Fidelity, Constable was the chief investment officer at CircleUp, a consumer goods venture capital firm based in San Francisco. In this capacity, Constable oversaw their investment strategies while developing and managing their research agenda for data-driven private market investing. Prior to that, he spent nearly 13 years at Grantham, Mayo, van Otterloo & Co., most recently as head of its global equity division. In that role, he served as lead portfolio manager for the firm’s global quant equity and derivatives strategies, oversaw the quantitative research agenda and managed a team of more than 20 researchers and portfolio managers. Constable also spent two years as a vice-president at State Street Corporation and three years as a postdoctoral fellow at the MIT Center for Theoretical Physics. He has been in the financial industry since 2004.

Constable earned his bachelor of science degree in physics with a minor in mathematics from the University of Calgary, his master’s degree in mathematics from Cambridge University and his PhD in physics from McGill University.
