An independent agency of the federal government has launched a free financial literacy online guide for retirees and near-retirees.
The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada has developed Living in retirement. It covers a variety of topics, such as budgeting in retirement, sources of retirement income, federal tax credits for seniors, working in retirement and retiring abroad.
“[Financial literacy] is a critical life skill for all Canadians—and particularly for Canadian seniors, who often face unique financial challenges,” says Minister of State (Seniors) Alice Wong.
The launch of Living in retirement coincides with Financial Literacy Month in Canada. Throughout November, there are activities across the country to help Canadians better understand personal finances.
