Caisse makes another investment in wind power

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec is making a $42-million investment in the Parc des Moulins wind energy project operated by Invenergy Wind.

After this transaction, Invenergy will continue to be the majority controlling shareholder.

Parc des Moulins is a 135.7-megawatt wind farm that has been in commercial operation since December 2013. It covers three Quebec municipalities: Thetford Mines, Kinnear’s Mills and Saint-Jean-de-Brébeuf.

“In line with our strategy, we continue to invest capital in quality infrastructure to generate attractive long-term returns for our clients,” says Macky Tall, senior vice-president, infrastructure, at the Caisse. “Alongside Invenergy, which operates and manages projects to the highest industry standards, we have already invested in several wind farms in Quebec, Canada and the United States.”

In early 2013, La Caisse announced the acquisition of a stake in the Invenergy wind farm portfolio, comprising 11 wind projects in the United States and two in Canada, including Le Plateau in the Gaspésie region.
