Bank of Canada: Today, deputy governor Timothy Lane gives a speech at HEC Montreal on monetary policy and financial stability. The central bank held the line on its key interest rate last month, but the decision was a close call.

Earnings reports: Some of Canada’s biggest companies are set to report their latest quarterly results. Sun Life reports Wednesday, followed by Manulife, Great-West Lifeco, Molson Coors, Thomson Reuters, TransCanada, Telus, Teck Resources and Interfor on Thursday.
