CPPIB announces three senior appointments

The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board has announced a series of new appointments.

Alain Carrier has been appointed senior managing director, head of international. With more than 23 years of experience in the financial industry, he has been with the pension fund since 2008, most recently as managing director, head of Europe. In the new role, Carrier will be responsible for the pension fund’s international investment activities.

Suyi Kim has been appointed managing director, head of Asia, and will be responsible for overseeing CPPIB’s portfolio of Asian investments. She joined the pension fund nine years ago, establishing its first international office in Hong Kong. Kim’s previous experience includes working in the private equity group at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.

Deborah Orida has been appointed managing director, head of private equity, Asia, and will be responsible for leading private investments in Asia with a focus on both direct private equity investments and fund commitments. Since joining CPPIB in 2009, she has also been managing director, head of relationship investments international.

“These appointments are an excellent reflection of both the deep bench strength and great international experience we have within CPPIB,” said Mark Machin, CPPIB’s president and chief executive officer.
