An Owen Sound, Ontario dentist’s practice will be monitored for three years after submitting false/misleading billings and claims to insurers seeking reimbursement of about $300,000.

The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario’s discipline committee says Dr. Ross Chiaramonte charged excessive/unreasonable fees, charged for incomplete treatment, charged for treatment not performed, charged excessive amounts for emergency and specific examinations, billed for services not rendered, and didn’t bill patients for charges not covered by the dental plan.

He pleaded guilty to 11 professional misconduct allegations and he is currently on an eight-month suspension.

As a result of his misconduct, all of Dr. Chiaramonte’s charts and records will also be reviewed for the next three years.
