Emergis has renewed its service agreement with The Great-West Life Assurance Company.

Under this new five-year deal, Great-West Life will continue using Emergis’s Assure Claims solution for the adjudication of its drug card claims and the transport of its electronic dental claims.

“We are pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with Emergis,” says Dave Johnston, executive vice-president of Great-West’s group insurance division. “Emergis continues to deliver the quality customer service and reliability that we need in the management of our claims processing.”

Separately, Emergis is buying Informatique Demers, Lambert, Desrochers Inc. for $11.5 million in cash. The Quebec City-based company provides pharmacy management systems and support to approximately 400 pharmacies in the province of Quebec.

“The acquisition of Informatique D.L.D. reinforces our position as a leading provider of pharmacy management systems in Canada,” explains Francois Cote, president and CEO of Emergis. “With this acquisition, Emergis is now even better positioned to advance the deployment and integration of comprehensive electronic health record systems among healthcare provider communities.”
