Lakeside Process Controls focuses on positive change in annual wellness program

Lakeside Process Controls says it’s seeing results from its wellness program as employee health improves and prescription drug claims fall.

“We’re off to a great start with a lot of energy and enthusiasm around the program,” says Stephanie Enright, human resources manager at Lakeside Process Controls, of the wellness program that this year is focusing on helping employees create positive change in their relationships, their communities and around the world.

“We are focusing heavily on green elements and reducing processed foods in our lives,” says Enright.

The organization, a process automation company headquartered in Mississauga, Ont., was a finalist in Benefits Canada’s 2015 Workplace Benefits Awards in the health and wellness program category for companies with less than 1,000 employees. Benefits Canada is currently accepting nominations for this year’s awards up until the deadline of June 30.

The program, says Enright, “has become an integral part of how our employees engage with each other and allows us to bring together individuals who might not otherwise cross paths. Additionally, over the last five years, we have made significant improvement in the overall health of our employee population and a decline in our prescription drug claims. We are, on average, about 10 per cent below the market.”

For its 2016 program, the company is running a how-to series to teach employees skills in all three of its health pillars: healthy eating, active living and mental wellness. Learn more about the health pillars in the video interview below:
