Equitable Life introduces online health assessment tool

Equitable Life of Canada has introduced an online health assessment tool aimed at helping plan members better understand and manage their health.

The tool, developed in partnership with Ceridian Canada, prompts plan members to respond to a series of questions regarding health indicators and preferences (nutrition, exercise and/or workplace-sponsored events). While individual health assessment responses and information remain confidential, employers are provided with a snapshot of employee health concerns, needs and interests. This feedback can then be used to support group benefits and wellness resource decisions and efforts.

“This self-reported employee perspective can be integrated, where appropriate, with other key health information such as drug claims data. The result will be actionable insights that can assist in determining which actions will generate the greatest desired impact on each employer’s unique health and wellness situation,” explains Martin Chung, assistant vice-president, strategic health management, group benefits, with Equitable Life.

Chung adds that the tool will also give plan sponsors the opportunity to tailor health and wellness initiatives to employees’ activity interests. “Walking, eating and other health challenges will encourage workplace participation by making things easy and fun.”
