Keohane, Denison to Consult on Ontario Pension Fix

ontario flagThe Government of Ontario has assembled an advisory group to advise it on how to strengthen retirement income security.

The group, called the Technical Advisory Group on Retirement Security, is made up of six pension experts from the public, private and non-profit sectors:

Keith Ambachtsheer, director of the Rotman International Centre for Pension Management;

David Denison, former president and CEO of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board;

Susan Eng, vice-president for advocacy at CARP;

Melissa Kennedy, senior vice-president, general counsel and corporate affairs at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan;

Jim Keohane, president and CEO of the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan; and

Bill Morneau, executive chairman of Morneau Shepell.

Alongside former prime minister Paul Martin, this group will advise the government on how to improve the retirement income system, including an Ontario-based alternative to a Canada Pension Plan enhancement.

“It is critical that we act now to improve retirement security,” says Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne. This technical advisory group will give us the guidance and insight we need to ensure we can protect the people of Ontario in their retirement.”
