Caisse to build Edmonton outlet mall

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec’s real estate subsidiary, Ivanhoé Cambridge, has entered into a conditional agreement with the Edmonton International Airport (EIA) to develop an outlet mall.

It will lease about 45 acres of land from the airport to build The Outlet Collection at EIA, which will have 350,000 square feet of space and feature 85 different stores.

“This project is an important step in the evolution of our new development program,” says Paul Gleeson, executive vice-president, development, at Ivanhoé Cambridge.

Targeting a fall 2016 opening, both parties expect to be able to satisfy the mutual conditions of the agreement in the first half of 2014.
