The latest round of collective bargaining between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers has resulted in several changes to the health benefits plans.
The maximum payable amount for major dental services will be increased from $1,500 to $2,000 per year, and are covered at up to 70 per cent. The dental fee guide will be updated each Jan. 1 for both the urban and rural and suburban bargaining units.

The extended health-care benefits have changed as well, including out-of-country medical coverage, which will increase from $100,000 to $250,000.
Changes to the short-term disability program will affect all regular employees in both bargaining units. The definitions of “accident” and “hospitalization” are now protected, and overpayment recovery related to short-term disability is now capped at 10 per cent of each pay. In addition, Canada Post can no longer make unilateral changes to the program policy document.
