CN Rail hits milestone in employee training program

Some 15,000 CN Rail employees have completed rail courses as part of the organization’s employee training program.

The program, which combines classroom lessons with practical training, features instructors who specialize in various jobs such as conductor, track maintainer or car mechanic. Employees also learn through modern laboratories with railroad equipment that simulates their job environment.

CN Rail modified its employee training program six years ago by looking at how it could modernize the process with sophisticated technology and tools. In 2014, it opened campuses in Winnipeg and Homewood, Illinois a $60-million investment.
