Desjardins Group engages staff in health and wellness challenge

Desjardins Group is engaging its employees in the 5/30 Health and Wellness Challenge, a six-week motivational program aimed at helping people live a healthier life.

The annual event, which runs from March 31 to May 11, encourages participants to set three goals, either as an individual, as a family or as a team.

The goals are:

  • Eat at least five servings of fruit and vegetables a day;
  • Get active at least 30 minutes a day; and
  • Live a balanced lifestyle.

“Desjardins Group takes part in this important initiative by offering and encouraging its employees and their families, as well as officers and retirees, to register in the Desjardins team in the Challenge,” says Réal Cassista, manager of the workplace health and safety department at Desjardins Group.

The annual challenge, which Desjardins Group has participated in for nine years, is just one of the health and well-being initiatives it offers to employees. Additional offerings include:

  • An employee assistance program available to employees and retirees through the group insurance plan;
  • Health management advisors who are available to offer support and advice to help employees prevent mental and physical illness;
  • Personalized support after disability leave through a program that helps employees readjust to their work environment after extended leave;
  • Work-life balance through flexible working arrangements; and
  • Health is Cool 360° online platform, which gives employees access to regularly updated health information backed by a team of professionals.
