EU employers can read employees’ private messages at work

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ruled that it is not illegal for an employer to read its employees private messages sent through webmail accounts or online chat software during working hours, according to a story on the BBC.

The judges, which handed down the decision on Tuesday, said a firm that read its employee’s Yahoo Messenger chats while he was at work was well within its rights, adding that the employee had breached the company’s rules.
