The Quebec cabinet has appointed Jean-Claude Scraire as chairman of the board of Investissement Québec, the province’s investment arm.
He replaces Jean Bazin, who had just six months left on his three-year contract.
Scraire worked at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec for 22 years and served as chairman and CEO for seven of those years before stepping down in 2002. Since leaving the Caisse, he has worked as an independent business consultant.
The government wants to change the name of Investissement Québec to Banque de développement économique du Québec.
The mission of the renamed organization will be to support, in particular through financial interventions, the economic development of Quebec in accordance with the government’s economic policy.
