Google invests in health insurance startup

Google Capital has invested US$32.5 million in American insurance startup Oscar Health Insurance Corp.

The investment values the two-year-old insurance firm at US$1.75 billion, reports The Wall Street Journal.

“Oscar signs up customers through online exchanges that were created by the 2010 Affordable Care Act.” the Journal reports. “Unlike most large insurance providers, Oscar is focused on signing up individuals, rather than employers.”
