GroupHEALTH Benefit Solutions has appointed Gary Walters as senior vice-president of underwriting.
In the new role, Walters will be based out of GroupHEALTH’s Barrie, Ont. office, and will oversee underwriting projects for all of GroupHEALTH’s companies across Canada, which also include offices in Vancouver, Surrey, B.C., Edmonton and Etobicoke, Ont.

With more than 30 years of actuarial experience in the employee benefits insurance and reinsurance sectors, Walters was previously senior vice-president of pricing and group reinsurance at RGA Life Reinsurance Co. of Canada for more than 10 years and was vice-president of group finance at the Canada Life Assurance Co.
Walters has also worked with provincial governments and the insurance industry on the framework and structure of private health insurance and the interaction between private and public health plans.
