National Bank shuts down Geneva institutional equities office

National Bank Financial closed its institutional equities office in Geneva on Tuesday.

“The decision was made following a periodic review of our activities,” according to an emailed statement from Claude Breton, National Bank’s senior manager, public affairs.

“Notwithstanding this decision, the bank remains firmly committed to the ongoing development of its European business, most notably through our London office with institutional client trading and corporate financing, and in Paris for banking activities.”

Ten positions were eliminated as a result of the shutdown.
