NDP won’t support Ontario’s pension budget

Ontario’s New Democratic Party won’t support the Liberal budget, which contained proposals to introduce an Ontario Retirement Pension Plan and legislation for pooled registered pension plans.

“We will not vote in favour of this budget,” Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath told reporters at Queen’s Park on Friday morning, adding that she no longer has confidence in Premier Kathleen Wynne.

The Liberals have a minority government with just 48 of the 107 seats in the Ontario legislature.

Earlier this week, the Progressive Conservatives said they also wouldn’t support the budget.

An election has been called for June 12.
